I see. Rabbi Handler "read" and "researched" alllll about the vaccine. He currently has no scientific background nor medical nor research experience. He's a Rabbi associated with the OU and overly involved with politics. He neglects to mention that several countries decreased their vaccine usage and their autism rates continued to rise.

He also blames Obama. Because Obama basically created vaccines, and also he loves "Big Business." And TRUMP was elected IN PROTEST OF BIG BUSINESS. No, really That's what he says. No, I'm not joking.

Can we not give a platform to this ridiculousness?

Sort of interesting how everyone will take the opinion of a Rav of the position that a Jew has.to get vaccinated without asking the extent of his expertise and research. When a Rabbi has the opposite opinion, everyone attacks his 'research'. And why when it.comes to specific.medical issues, which are complex, there's always a special Rav to ask who is well versed in this topic. When it comes to vaccines, every Rav is an expert!!!

In France there is a major epidemic that was caused by low confidence in vaccines and the current trend of debunking all evidence of harm done by vaccines doesn't seem to be turning this around. There were already 3 deaths and a 22% hospitalization rate at the time of this article: https://www.vaccinestoday.eu/s.....dest/

We see that turning all non-vaccinated people into ignorant murderers is not improving the picture.

We see that people are dying because of lack of herd immunity.

I really don't understand your logic here or in the other thread. If people don't vaccinate and don't die from disease, it's evidence that vaccines aren't all that important after all. If people don't vaccinate and do die from disease, it's evidence that vaccines hurt people and we need to acknowledge that.

What, to your mind, would constitute evidence that herd immunity is real and vaccines save lives?

I just can't with this post. First, the "holocaust" analogy is absolutely disgusting. Not only does it offend all Jews, but it also offends the parents of children on the spectrum. It makes these children sound like they are all walking dead, with no quality of life.

Second, I automatically switch off when I see things randomly capitalized like "Big Pharma, Big Government, Big Business".

Then you really lose me when you switch to all caps OMG THEY ARE COMING TO TAKE AWAY OUR RIGHTS EVERYBODY PANIC!!!!!!!

So unprofessional. If you don't have anything logical to say, and facts with sources to back it up, then keep quiet. Save your ranting and raving for your fellow conspiracy nuts.

This has been a public service message from your Friendly Reptilian Overlord. Keep calm and carry on!

I never said that vaccines don't save lives or that herd immunity is of no value. My point is that the public trust goes down when risks are not addressed and vaccine reactions are regarded as coincidence. If the MMR was offered as 3 separate injections, there might be better compliance. People are afraid of too many viruses being given at once and are not sold on studies.

I absolutely agree that vaccines should be given one at a time, uncompounded.

DD had a bad reaction to the pertussis vaccine, and all of her other shots had to be ordered in advance to make sure that there was no pertussis in any of them. (DPT, minus the P) It was a pain, but the doctor felt it was the best thing to do. I also spaced out her vaccines a little more, so we could monitor any possible side effects. B'H, she did fine, and eventually could have the pertussis vaccine when she was 12.

I’m glad your dd is ok. FYI DTP has been replaced for a while with the safer (but slightly less effective) dtap vaccine.

And you're basing this on... ?

What evidence do you have that "vaccine reactions" aren't coincidence? (I assume you mean something more severe than the mild illness that is known to be a result of the vaccine)

What evidence do you have that that's a significant factor in the decision not to vaccinate? Asking because studies suggest it's a lot more complicated. (It's true that parents who tend to trust informal sources are less likely to vaccinate - but what made them trust informal sources over scientific studies in the first place?)

There is no lack of anti-vax sites out there so you can look at them and see for yourself why people don't trust the scientific studies or view them as scientific. Nobody can prove anything about vaccine reactions. It may or may not be due to vaccines. It is a matter of perspective since there is usually no proof. Many parents state that significant change happened to their baby after being vaccinated but I am sure that folks like you would see it as coincidence so why bother to change your perspective?

Why don't you look at the articles about the situation in the Ukraine and in European countries and see why the parents are not vaccinating. Sometimes they want the vaccine and can't get it and other times they are simply negligent but in many cases they read the evidence and feel that the way that vaccines are given today presents more danger than the disease. For example diphtheria is usually deadly but is unheard of in America. It is still killing thousands elsewhere but probably American children would still be safe if the Tdap was broken up into components and diphtheria and tetanus were given later. Tetanus is rare today because most of us don't live near animal waste or use outdoor privies.

I am not going to sit today and look up links but my non-vaxxed friends Whatsapp them to me so I see what they are reading and why they are so resistant to changing their minds.

Some people are still buying the outdated notion that vaccines contain harmful chemicals and fetal cells but that notion would go away if there was a bit more transparency of what is actually contained in vaccines. Having an informational video showing exactly the production process and being played in clinics, DOH, physicians offices, etc, might refute that in those who are still concerned about mercury or fetal cells but in the Ukraine, apparently that is exactly what they are afraid of.

It's kinda true. In CA it's the most educated and wealthiest areas that have the lowest vaccination rates. Stay at home moms with degrees and time can do research and have the income to pay for a doctor that supports their decision. Harried frum moms from lakewood, less so....just comparing random.demographics Smile

This is not true. I don't know why ppl keep saying that. It's a very small subset of "crunchy" ppl in LA because a few celebrities came out with Autism debunks and are not considered valid any longer. People who do not vaccinate are considered odd by the majority of the wealthy, private school going, educated Californians. Otherwise, all private schools such as Harvard Westlake, Campbell Hall, Buckley, Viewpoint, Milken, Curtis, Marlborough, Archer, Brentwood, etc. have very high vaccination rates. Berkeley Hall, which is a Christian Science (don't believe in doctors) has a lower vaccination rate although a large percentage of their student body consists of non Christian Scientists including Jews because the school does not teach religion and possibly has the most beautiful campus in the LA area. Anti vax parents are more likely to send there since the school is not likely to bother them for their vaccination records. Also, CA does not allow religious or personal belief exemptions so it is almost impossible to get an exemption there.

Here is a link where you can look up the schools. http://spreadsheets.latimes.co.....1617/

I one's I listed are full of the wealthiest, most educated Los Angelinos.

I havent heard anything from William Handler lately. When I google him, I get Forward articles that link to the below.

The fearmongerers include a group called PEACH — or Parents Educating and Advocating for Children’s Health — which appears to be targeting the Jewish community with misinformation about vaccine safety, citing rabbis as authorities, through a hotline and magazines. Brooklyn Orthodox Rabbi William Handler has also been proclaiming the well-debunked link between the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism. Parents who “placate the gods of vaccination” are engaging in “child sacrifice,” he told Vox.

Has he changed his position, or is he just staying out of the limelight?

Anybody that know bill handler from the community knows he’s nuts! He has Been writing letters to newspapers and calling and fighting with talk show hosts since before I was born!
On another note can it be that 98% of us are stupid and wrong about vaccinations and bill handler and the 2% of anti vaxxer are the only ones who know the truth?! Are we all idiots??!!
