Could you please recommend great clean books for my 13 yr old dd? She's mostly interested in secular books, but I'm interested in Jewish books too. Thanx!!

She's almost done with the last book in the Lemony Snicket series of All The Wrong Questions, but honestly these are really easy for her. It would be nice for her to read books a little bit on the next level. She can read one of these books in two nights.

As an avid reader many years ago there were some great classics
Exiles of crocodile island
/ cohens of tzefat and
Emm
I’m blanking out

I wonder if theres an old post here that would help you or a reading list from Torah Umesorah

As far as secular books. Everyone’s standards are different.
the anne of green gables series/ the hobbit/ lord of the rings series
Unabridged British popular books:
The secret garden/ little railway children. /little lord fauntelroy/ a little princess /

But I’m aging myself here. And have no obvious experience with 13 yr olds today.
Good luck

My 10 year old read the Harry Potter series, then the Charlie Bone series, Rick Riordan books; she's read the Little House on the Prairie series, Anne of Green Gables series. A little princess, the secret garden, the Borrowers are also clean and age appropriate.

I can't really come up with something with attitude.

I can just come up with some of the really well-written books:
The Cohens of Tzefat
The Exiles of Crocodile Island
Zalman's Menorah
Shortchanged
The Stars Will Guide You
Into the Fire
Far From the Place We Call Home

I'm trying to think of books that aren't historical fiction...

Incredible (a bio but it really is incredible)

Oh, actually, these books are pretty funny. Not quite Lemony Snicket attitude but fun, and all by M. C. Millman:
Amen Allowed, Juggling Act, One Step Behind.

Hope this is a good start.

When I was about that age I really enjoyed a series called The Roman Mysteries, written by Caroline Lawrence. http://www.romanmysteries.com/. Really spectacular reading material.

The War that Saved My Life--wonderful,wonderful book. There's a sequel that is good, but not as good. The author wrote several others as well, which I haven't read.

Books by Ann Rinaldi.

Books by Corneila Funke.

The Masterminds series by Gordon Korman. I read these along with my kids and enjoyed them.

Books by Wendy Mass. She's written a bunch, some of which are a series and some of which are on their own.

The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineus.

Race the Night by Kristen Hubbard. I think there's another related book as well, not sure which is first.

Keeper of the Lost Cities series

Wings of Fire series
