I love the sound of Persian. It's my favorite language in terms of the music of it. I wouldn't spend time learning it because all the people I know who speak Persian speak English or Hebrew mainly. But I love hearing it.

I wouldn't say it's my first, in terms of most used, but Russian was the first language I spoke, until about the age of 4. Then I went to school and promptly learnt English, my main language spoken today.
My parents are Russian, and they urged me for many years to start speaking it again, until I did. Now, it's stood me in good stead since DH is Russian speaking as well Smile

My first language was English. I'm probably more fluent in Hebrew.
As a rule, I'm better at writing in Hebrew, reading in English.
It's bilingual, but with strengths in either language.

First language was Yiddish, learned English when I went to school. But now I use English much more so it's my "first language" as in, I think in English.
But I do speak, read, write... a perfectly fluent Yiddish. I speak Yiddish to my husband, father, brothers, kids... basically the men and children in my life.
I understand and read some Hebrew but can't speak or write. I wish I would know more languages... maybe one day.

Really? Most people say that don’t like the sound of it and that it’s an “ugly” sounding language! So interesting you like it!!

I cant think of any Yiddish swear word that is so terrible it would kick you off the site?

My first language is Yiddish. My Yiddish writing is better than my English and I express myself best when I use a combination of both languages.

Btw, I read write and talk a fluent Hindu.
( LOL You cant really prove that not. )

I voted Hebrew. But really my parents spoke to me in English as a child and we spoke English at home. I am also completely bilingual Hebrew/English. I went to school/college in Israel so my Hebrew skills are a bit stronger. I know some Arabic, can read the language too - but not at a high level.
I am exposed to a lot of Farsi through my work, and I must agree that it is not a pleasant sounding language. It is also very different from Hebrew English and Arabic in sentence structure, idioms, and even intonation.
