...who could take a delightful and extremely clever 14yo boy with High Functioning Autism and teach him skills to cope when things don't go as he expects or he is overwhelmed?

There must be. Where is it?

Doresh is amazing but they do not take boys with significant behavioral issues. I don’t know how you define lashing out but it
may be an issue there.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Foe anyone reading this in the future, here is the website

https://www.doresh.com/#

I will bli neder contact them.

He has never had behavioral issues at school, but at home is another story. Not sure what would happen in a boarding situation (although he has been on camp).

Any other ideas?

Not to my knowledge, and I have looked. There is a major lack of appropriate programming for HFA kids, male and female. I was looking for a boarding school that dealt with behavioral and social and struck out. And if lashing out includes physical violence toward people or property, and you're not around to be a part of the process of dealing with it, he could find himself in difficult situations.

Is there a program near you that is at all geared to HFA kids? It is possible that if he is in a less demanding and more understanding and therapeutic environment overall, he will be calmer in general and the school will be able to isolate the difficult times and triggers and teach him coping skills.

Just read your last post. What was camp like?
And was it a regular camp,or a specialized program?

I just heard of a yeshiva in Israel that has a program. They learn with the kids one on one. I know someone there that has Apberger, he also went to camp. I am unsure what behavior issues he had/or didnt have.

Regular camps he has been to but here they are only a week long. He is completely mainstreamed until now.

And I would love to hear if they have anything in place to support and develop social skills and/or life skills for the HFA kids, since that deficit is often a major contributor to their behavioral issues.

Copper, I met someone who sent a son there and raved about the place. (If you watch the "Mother's Story" on that site - it was her).

Sorry, Natural, I have no idea.
