I am making a home kiddish for 20 - 25 shabbos chanukah. About half the guests are young children. Please help me plan.

I was thinking of chulent, kugel, cold cuts, herring, two salads. I have chocolate coins and other candy for the kids.

Please tell me how much I need.

How do you keep kugel from getting dried out overnight in the oven?

Is there any food items I should include?

TY

There should be some cake and a bit of fruit too.
I also did kishka in addition to what you wrote above.

For the kugel to stay moist put the kugel pan inside another pan with water or just a pan of water on bottom of oven.
Perhaps a deli roll.
Woman love salads so maybe one more.
How many people are there in your family? How much would you serve them? Now multiply for the number of guest.
2 pans of 9 x 13 kugel
Maybe 1 pan of lokshen kugel
About a half lb of 4 different cold cuts each
A 6 quart chulent pot serves about 10 people (at least in my house)
Pickles and say 2 lbs of coleslaw and 2 lbs of potato salad.
Soda, napkins, cutlery, plates ,serving plates and serving spoons
Anything left over is food for sunday.

My family doesn't eat so much Shabbos day. I can guess for regular adults, but I was wondering how much to prepare for young children. When my kids were little, they barely ate.

I find that kids eat more when there is a crowd. I edited my post to give you more precise numbers.
Have some cookies and cake
And don’t forget the egg kichels or crackers

I also find that pick up food and put it down and take another plate.

I agree with amounts. I was going to say two 6 quart crockpots worth of Cholent
2 9x13 Potatoe Kugel
4-5 lbs deli (kids prefer salami)
2 salads in large bowls
2 cake trays of assorted cake should cover it
2 kishka rolls
Five small herring containers. My DH said the most important is to have variety , different types
1-2 box of kichels for the herring
When I make a Kiddush it's for more people and I buy in bulk direct from the wholesaler (Golden Taste)
Drinks

What kind of drinks? We have wine, booze, and seltzer for the adults. What should I serve the kids?

2 bottles of soda or juice is enough for the kids. Otherwise seltzer and water will do as well

If you have the room set a separate table for the kids with coloured paper plates and cups and remember that People tend to take a plate put it down and take another. Have small plates and big plates say a pack of 100 of each (better more and have left over)
Also have a couple of big black garbage bags and try to remove used plates and cups every so often so it doesn’t become overwhelming.
Does your family like gala?
