Is anyone else thinking as soon as A topic gets started it always get locked? Why can’t people have lively discussions with give and take and not get it locked. This is getting boring.

Cuz Yael doesn’t want a 30-page screamfest about how Modern Orthodox people don’t belong on this website or how vaccines are a Masonic conspiracy.

But if people here are enjoying it or getting info or having interesting discussion as long as its not something majorly problematic whats the problem?

Honestly? Because Imamother is essentially an unmoderated forum in the typical meaning of the term.
One approach is to have moderators edit or remove problematic posts, but since Imamother moderators are volunteers, that would make the job a lot more onerous.
The bigger problem, though, is that true moderation would result in posters getting angry and leaving. Many women here would not accept correction gracefully.
So the solution is to lock the thread and essentially place everyone in time out. It's frustrating and upsetting at times, but Imamother is a business and can't afford to alienate customers.

No. The vast majority don’t get locked.

Sometimes its not controversial or hurtful or offensive, but Yael feels its time to move on...
Even though some of us actually want to spend 50 pages and 2000 posts talking about our hosiery

What you see as interesting may be terribly offensive to other people.
The threads that get locked (other than those that break the rules) are usually those started in poor taste.

Threads that get locked are usually self understood why.

Usually it is. Once in a while I wonder if what got them locked was also deleted. I know the mods are busy but a short post as a final post would be nice.
