My oven has been broken for the past few weeks and we can't afford to get it fixed right now, so we've been doing all our Shabbos cooking on the stovetop. For side dishes, we've pretty much been making potatoes and rice every week and it's getting a little boring. Can anyone suggest any other side dishes that don't need an oven?

I'm not looking for veggie side dishes--we've got that down pat. I'm looking for more carb-based dishes.

Thanks!

If you have a George Forman you can grill whatever you want also.

What can you do in the oven that you can't do stovetop?

you can even do kugel on the stovetop.
