Looking to buy a new digital thermometer. I’m thinking maybe the forehead type? Any recommendations on something accurate?

As far as I'm concerned, the ear thermometer is more accurate than the forehead one.
I personally only use rectal for babies & toddlers.

I'll be following this thread.
I've tried the exergen forehead, I've tried an off brand ear one (we got from insurance) and now I just stick to the rectal hospital thermometers we take home each time.
its tedious & uncomfortable but the most accurate.

My pediatrician told me to avoid the forehead ones as many are unreliable. I use a braun ear thermometer and I'm happy with it.

in our experience the ear one was the least accurate. I guess it depends on age of child because the smaller the childs ear is the harder it is for it to reach the right spot and get the temp (so says our doc).

we have a braun forehead thermometer for about 2 years which I find pretty reliable. It's quick and usually within a degree of rectal ( rectal is always higher and more accurate but this gives within a degree of what oral should say.)

I've had no issues with the exergen thermometer which I've been using for the past 3 years. As a backup, I also use an underarm thermometer for the kids.
