Is Sarina always its own name, or can it be a nickname for Sara?

You can use whatever you want as a nickname or somehow associated with Sara because of the way you spelled it, I'd think it was a nickname because Serena is the appropriate spelling from the Latin Serenus. I've never met anyone with this name, but have of course heard of Serena Williams.

I wanted to name by kid this. But I was naming after my grandmother who was Sara. So ended up calling her Sara. Because felt sarina was different name.

Serena could be a secular name. There are non Jews with that name.
If someone happens to be named Sara Rena then it sounds cute to say it fast as one name.

I know people with the name Sarina, but none of them close enough to ask the source of their name. I would like to name after a Sara, but I don't especially like any of the nicknames most commonly used for that name.

Yeah I could see that name in a Sephardic community. Even better in a community from Spanish background. Sarina is like Sarita ( a nickname for Sara , in Spanish).

Google the meaning of the name Sarina. I did and found out that it’s an Urdu Muslim name that comes from the Hebrew name Sarah. And there was a saint Serena / Sarina
