Was just on vacation in miami and everyone we met was staying in the St Regis and said they used their points to pull it off.

Started looking into it and it all seems so complicated. Can someone please explain how it works and what is the best way to go about this? Which card do you recommend and why?

Maybe we can accumulate enough this year to pull it off for next year iyh......

Chase offers Marriott personal and business cards, each of which comes with very nice sign-up bonuses. If you and DH both open both cards, that should get you more than enough to pay for a few nights at the St. Regis (assuming you can meet the sign-up bonuses and pay the bills in full on time), although be aware that Marriott will soon be revamping their award charts, and the St. Regis will get a lot more expensive at peak times than it currently is. Now it's only 60k per night, but it will be going up to as high as 100k per night at peak times.

Thank you for responding.

I was under the impression that they made all their changes already. That's part of what I am finding confusing.

Here's a link to the old chart and the new chart: https://members.marriott.com/redeem/. Rumor has it that the change will occur sometime in March, though the exact date isn't yet known.
