My dermatologist prescribed finacea cream and it helped pretty good but I had a very mild case.
Did you try that?

your son is the one with acne, not a girl. but I had bad acne as a kid and the only thing that helped-that was non-medication was Proactiv. it really did help! but as a girl/woman, I couldn't use it during pregnancy and nursing and my acne came back like ti did as teen! it was so embarrassing!! I finally went on acutane as an adult! it would have been soooo much easier and less stressful to be on it not to worry about getting pregnant while on it and then having to wait a while after going off to get pregnant. if I took acutane as a teen, I could have avoided much unnecessary stress. why not try acutane for your son and knock his acne out?

Two comments here:

1. There is a suspicion that certain cosmetologist are putting steroids in their facial products. Anything that is "too good to be true" probably is. There have been many instances of this happening, including Mario Badescu and a private cosmetictian in Manhattan. You are taking a risk by using this person.
If you can't go a few weeks without using certain products, because you become blotchy or rashy, that's indicative of unlabled steroids. Be wary.

2. Accutane: It was a blessing for me. 11 years down the road and still clear.
BUT it has side effects, some of which are scary. Be careful. And do NOT take steroids from the doctor to heal side effect rashes. I did that, and suffer 11 years late from a condition caused by a stupid dermatologist.
