OP, how much is she asking for? She'll take how much you give her? In my community the norm is either $11 an hour plus transportation or $12 an hour.

That is so cheap now I understand why so many amothers have so much cleaning help and insist that it’s a necessity.

Amother wine, every community has different norms. But the lady's here are so bad and not interested in working, that $11 is overpaying them.

We legalized our nanny because my husband wants to be a judge. Costs us 100 a day plus 100+per week for the legalized expenses (insurance, taxes, fees to lawyers).

What is the process for legalizing the nanny/cleaning help? Wouldn't it be easier to go through an agency?

$12 plus $5 transportation. She is only working a couple of months by me so I know she will probably ask for a raise soon.
My cleaning lady prior to this one charged $14 after she worked for 2yrs and then left me for greener pastures.

More money than my job as a professional. I got every two weeks for 2 hours. No laundry and no dishes. My cleaning supplies.

It’s funny, I used to pay $14, but my previous cleaning lady asked for more, cuz she lived in queens and had to take abie and train to get here. We ended up giving her $16, and now that what we give our current cleaning lady, even though she drives here from inwood.

5 Towns

I have a cleaning woman 1 morning a week and I pay for the job - $80 for approximately 5 hours. She's been with us for 10 years and is honest and reliable and even sends me a friend when she's going to be away longer than a week. She's worth every penny and I'd pay more if I needed (but don't tell her that!).

$2 an hour (approximately) but I live in South Africa. Plus she lives in so I buy her food, pay for her child’s school supplies etc.... I am aware that it is pathetically little, but it is more than minimum wage here. And yes, everyone I know has full time help. With the Zimbabwean crisis I can only imagine an increase in people desperate for work here.
