Totally forgot about Rossel! We do it with chicken and turkey and kishke, no potatoes

Im not Belz, I learned about that dish from @raizyscookin on Instagram |
Sounds very similar to recipes I've seen for chicken paprikash (I love reading cook books),
and that gives me an idea of just how much paprika is in there (!) if it is not red because of
sour beet, which is also what the name is known for implying (I.e traditional borsht). I don't usually see chicken paprikash recipes with garlic though (in fact, none have I seen), just onions, and I usually make mine with lots of onions.

Yes. Onion, fresh garlic, chicken, paprika and steam/braise until the juices release.

Terrific! Sounds delish.
I'm starting to feel like a junior Claudia Roudan, on a trail of a recipe.
Are there any more ingredients to add to this list?

Of course oil, and salt to taste. No liquid.
Then there are variations like some people wrote above they add potatoes or kishka while it cooks but that wasn't traditional. You can use any chicken pieces or a combination.

Made it! It was absolutely delish!
This time around I did put potatoes--so the potatoes definitely are not traditional?
I also used a type of paprika that was so so.... good but not great. Next time I'm planning on using a phenomenal sweet lightly smoked Hungarian paprika and am really looking forward to that.
Any more Belzer recipes to share?
