DD, age 12, was just diagnosed with a dust mite allergy. The dr told me to purchase special covers for her mattress, quilt, and pillow. Does anybody have any experience with this?

Yes, what do you want to know? Buy the mattress and pillow covers and vacuum often.

You don't want to have a ton of stuffed animals around her when she sleeps. Also, blinds are better than curtains, but uf you already have curtains, wash them often.

No carpet in her room. Keep her room really clean, making sure you get everything from under the beds / furniture. Keep her out of the room while the room is being cleaned. It takes a couple of hours for the dust to settle afterwards too. If she cleans for you, have her use medical masks. She should not sleep in the basement.

I’m not the original poster but was wondering if someone can recommend a company of allergen protectant covers for mattresses/pillows. Which companies actually work?

My allergist gave me a list of recommended brands. It was years ago and I don't have it listed.
Rip out bedroom carpeting in the allergic child's room ASAP.

Get a HEPA air purifier for her bedroom. Helps me a lot.

I purchased the mattress and pillow covers from Costco online.

OP here. I purchased them at my local dry goods store, don't remember the name.
My daughter's wheezing episodes were reduced by 90%.
