Yes just adjust the baking time. Around 25 minutes for muffins.

Yes, but it would be more of a cake/cupcake. In general muffin recipes include less sugar, less fat and eggs, yielding a crustier top.
Another tip is not to overmix the batter, leaving it lumpy for a better muffin texture. Mix by hand till combined.

It came out with bubbles and yes more like a cake mix than a thicker dense muffin that I am used to. Also the batter was thin and more tricky to spoon into the muffin tins. I thought I did something wrong but I guess there are differences.
