My dear MIL has recently given us a very generous gift. I would really like to send her flowers for shabbos with a nice poem. Would anyone be willing to share something that they ever wrote? Or have written to someone else but could be adapted to mil? I have no problem tweaking it, but would love a basic structure first. Tia

True. But I’m literally sitting and breaking my head and don’t know where to start. That’s why I asked for help.
As I mentioned earlier, I have no issue tweaking it a bit to make it more personal. Just need a base first.

Ah. Hatzlacha.
While you're waiting, just start writing (rough draft). Dear Mommy, Thank you so much for your generous gift. We have big plans on how to use it [share if you want]. Whenever we see [what we plan to buy] or think about how we can breathe more easily [if you use for debts, etc.] we will think of you and your love and caring for us. It really helps us put one foot in front of the other, and we hope to always be worthy of your trust and regard for us.
Love, etc.

Find ways to rhyme words and work from there.
Heart/start/smart/tart/part
gift/lift/shift
dear/clear/near/fear (have no fear)/share/bare
guest/best/fest/test
gratitude/attitude
A simple thank you is not enough nearly,
To express what we want to say clearly,
Your generous gift was so appreciated,
We will use it well is clearly understated,
We hope that you will have nachas from us,
And may we share many good times together with love,
It may be so off base, but this is what came out of the keyboard. hope it gets you started.
Good luck!

Hm. What do you mean by understated?

With some tweaks this can work nicely.

Mother
We do not know anyone who is
As kind and selfless as you,
You provide so much love and care
All the way through.
You offer a smile when times are high
And a shoulder when times are low,
You always put other people first
And that means much more than you know.
Whatever the problem
You are always there without hesitation,
To talk, to offer support
And to help in any situation.
You truly deserve to feel the affection and love
That for us you always provide,
That is why we want to say a huge thanks
From those of us who you always stand beside.
We can't thank you enough
For your largesse,
We love you mom -
It's gorgeous!

If I went out of my way to give or do something meaningful for someone and received a thank you rhyme in response, I think I’d probably find it a little dismissive. But then again, I’ve noticed that writing in rhymes seems to be a thing here on imamother (especially for Purim or teacher gifts) so maybe it’s a “thing that is done” in some circles?
Unless you’re a poet who expresses herself best in verses, don’t you think your mil would find an authentic and heathfelt thank you more meaningful than words that rhyme?

Actually all the above poems are quite nice too so maybe I’m wrong after all.
