I do it with whole. Sometimes add a drop of vanilla

I use ground cinnamon and it can stain the pot but I don't mind scrubbing it. Really amazing if you throw in some slices of orange too.

Why would you want to? The smell of sauteed onions is delicious IMO.

I sautee a lot, divide in ice trays with plastic wrap and frezze and use as neded this way I have the smell only once in a long time
