My shalach manos challos (16 out of 5 pounds) are a bit longer and wider than the mini grape juices. I don't feel the need to give larger than that.

What's the difference what it's called? Personally, I find it's more classy to give a little smaller rather than giving a regular large size challah.

This is very nice. I love receiving these (usually store-made, but either is fine) when Purim falls shortly before Shabbat.

I often give challah and people really appreciate that where I live since the only bakery makes not great challah. I think I get about a dozen challos out of my 5lb recipe but can't remember exactly. I make medium sized ones...not too small and not too big. I find people also really like a few challa rolls instead of 1 big challa.

Another option is any type of cake in a foil pan. These keep well even if not frozen. To save money make cakes which don't have expensive ingredients. Chocolate chips for example can be expensive.

You could also make containers of chummus or other dips.
