Looking for a recommendation for someone in Lakewood to work with my sensitive 10 year old child on social skills. Specifically teaching him how to respond when other kids are mean to him and how to develop thicker skin. Also would love to read books on this issue as well. Thanks!

This is exactly what I'm looking for too! Did you end up finding anybody good?

This sounds like something a child psychologist can help with.

My son has been to a therapist, but she says it's more of a social piece, that needs to be worked with in a real time social setting with peers

When DD was in public school, she had weekly sessions with other kids who had various social issues. She did this for 3 years, and it made a huge difference.

Ask your school if they would consider a social skills group. I'm sure your child isn't the only one who could benefit. A speech and language therapist is a good place to start.

In that case you'll want a social skills group. I'm not in Lakewood but I'm assuming they exist there.

You can ask your child's school for a recommendation.
