Saute oil with shredded cabbage, a little sugar, salt, and black pepper on a medium to low flame for a good 20 minutes. Keep mixing.
Is that what you were looking for?

Thank you everyone.
Any other suggestions? Not that these don't sound good- just looking for as many suggestions as I can get

Saute with onions & garlic, add a shredded carrot (the same size as the cabbage pieces so they cook evenly) and season with salt & pepper and a splash of soy sauce.

Heat oil in the pan on high. A wok works really well for this.
Add whole caraway seeds, and stir constantly until they pop.
Quickly add shredded cabbage, sliced a bit thicker than coleslaw.
Keep stirring only until the cabbage is slightly wilted. You still want a bit of crunch.
Serve warm, and only add salt at the very last minute. Otherwise you'll have a soggy mess.
This is delicious served with sausages, German style.

I agree great with sausage or kielbasa or pastrami.
Just saute with oil, salt and pepper.
Or saute purple cabbage with some slivers of colored pepper.

I do it differently depending on whether I use white or purple cabbage.
For white cabbage, I saute an onion and then add the cabbage and let it saute for quite a while until soft. Then I add salt, sugar, tomato paste and ketchup. (Sometimes crushed tomatoes as well).
For purple cabage, I saute an onion, and then add the cabbage with tiny pieces of green apple and let it saute for a while. Then add salt, vinegar and sugar.
I can try give more exact amounts if you want.

Sauté onion, add cabbage, salt and pepper to taste. Mix with noodles (bow ties are nice), and pieces of pastrami. You may add duck sauce if you like it sweet.
I served this one year on purim to a bunch of boys. They loved it!
