Hi everyone,
I just washed my son's down coat that I recently bought and now the down is clumpy in random places and not evened out through the coat. in some places it's not warm at all. Does anyone have ideas how I can fix it?
TIA

You need to dry it in the dryer with tennis balls to even out the feathers.

Put in 4 tennis balls or more and put it in the dryer for a full 1 hour cycle.

Put it in the dryer on low heat till the coat is dry. It never takes an hour.

You must dry it well. If its flat or clumped you need to refluff it by another dry.
Thats if it IS truly down. I had this with a Zara polyester filled coat where the padding was not sewn down with seams and shifted. In some areas remained thin and other areas clumped.

The coat is from Zara. I didn't dry it at all. I hung to dry. Did you dry it with tennis balls?

If you hung it to dry, that's the problem.

I figured I don't want to shrink it. Do I have to dry it with tennis balls?

Yes, if you want the coat to be fluffy, you have to dry it with tennis balls. Otherwise it will be flat.

Yes the filling has to be banged back into fluffy place.
Try it with a new bag of of clean tennis balls (from the $0.99 store). And if it still needs help, wash it again so it gets wet again, and then dry it with the balls (as many as you have).

In general coats dont really shrink unless theyre cotton or have ribbing..
Zara sells both, down and poly. Check the label for materials.
