I know several people who have been born with non-life threatening birth defects. They grew up and contributed to society - but the surgeries they needed to survive were extremely expensive. So, should they have been terminated? I'd hate to think so.

I also know a woman who was told that her baby has a 95% chance of being born with Down's Syndrome and severe heart defects. She was pressured really hard by her doctor and the nurses to terminate as soon as possible. She refused, and gave birth to a perfectly healthy, normal little girl.

One of the most amazing artists I know, is a woman who was born with only one arm.

I can't imagine how gray and colorless a world it would be without having known these people.

I'm a casual listener and didnt note the source (I'm 100% he said it, but cant even be sure it was in yesterday's episode).

A quick Google search found me this

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com.....tract

This

http://clinicquotes.com/abby-j.....ions/

And this

http://drhern.com/en/abortion-......html

Theres also this article, from a prolife organization, that quotes some of those studies and more

https://www.liveaction.org/new.....ions/

People like to throw all abortion conversations off by saying "what about rape and incest" when in fact those only account for 3% of abortions, and this "it's only because the baby is not viable" seems to be the new pitch.

I read all the links. None of them make mention of the 80% healthy fetus statistic being thrown around and one specifically seems to say the opposite.

While this may not be a normal situation I doubt it is unique. The most nauseating part of the whole thing is how one woman seems to have had the job of trying to convince women who came in for a consultation to decide to go ahead with the abortion. Since the only way an abortion clinic can make money is through abortions it makes sense that this is the case in many places.

I do think the laws need to be written with more nuance so as to protect the lives of the innocent unborn without putting mothers at risk. Laws can't be written on the basis of "no one would abort a healthy baby" because by the same vein you'd say no mother would ever kill her child after birth. There would be no need for a law against murder since "no one would ever do that" We all know that there are terrible people in this world. Even wonderful people can do terrible things in tough situations.
