Sapphire, you were asking lilac but I'll answer for my twins--- they're 12 and both gifted with ASD and ADHD. One twin does fine in public school with social skills pullouts and gifted pullouts but generally in gen ed with an intervention specialist. The other twin is EXTREMELY gifted and much lower functioning than his twin, ASD wise--- -he's quite aggressive and got suspended many times from public school so he got bumped into a behavior school that is very... NOT academic. Too bad for the gifted side of him and I'm tempted to homeschool but I'm very overwhelmed with all of their needs. For my daughter I did briefly consider moving her to a Jewish school--- not quite right for her, but she's closer to being able to handle it than her twin. For him----- as smart and capable as he is, he absolutely MUST miss out on Jewish day school education, sadly. His Bar Mitzvah is in less than a year and knowing no Rabbi here who would have the requisite patience for his behaviors and impulses I think I might actually teach him to lein (I'm BT). He can read Hebrew and is very musical. Just an aliyah or two and no pressure if he doesn't want to. We'll see.

I got a shadow for my daughter with allergies. I think we paid $20/ hour. It was a great job for a girl that wanted to be part of the school environment but didn’t get a teaching job. After a couple of months I was able to get approved by the boe and the. They paid.

My sons lcsw told me to look into a “nest program”: a class within a publib school setting that combines asd and non asd children, small class size, special ed teacher and regular teacher. She said the program is so amazing that she knows parents trying to get their non special needs children in
