Poster mentioned getting 5 days plus yom tov and chol hamoed. If you add it up, that is potentially 21 days. For those that don't work in the frum world, we need to use our vacation days for yom tov and either use vacation days or work chol hamoed. So in reality the 5 days is not so little.
I work for the federal government full time. That is 40 hours plus 1/2 hour daily lunch (42.5 hours). They pay 72% for family insurance premiums. They have group deals for vision and dental but don't pay a penny. There is a 401k type arrangement where they do have a match system up to a small %.
The vacation starts at 13 days vacation and 13 days sick. Over time you can earn more time up to 26 days vacation and 13 sick. You can also work extra to make up yom tov so you don't need to "waste" vacation on yom tov.
However, there is NO paid maternity leave. You can use your vacation and sick leave and then they save your spot for a certain amount of time, but you don't get paid.
I've been here since 2000, so my experience and salary rose. I started at 35K and now make about 100k
