OMgoodness. I haven't thought of Miss Melville in years.
There's also the Helma Zukas detective librarian series by Jo Dereske that are a light, distracting read.

I want to second (actually third) the suggestion that you read books by Liane Moriarty! Her characters always so well developed and hilarious.
