What have you done to help nail biters? It's funny because I have always bitten my nails - since I've had them as a toddler until I started get acrylic manicures as an adult who wanted them to stay. I actually bit acrylics as a teen. My kids have never seen me bite my nails, we have never spoken about it and my nails today are super long although I put synergy gel on top just to have that look but its my real nails underneath. Still, one ds bites his nails. What has worked for you or would you recommend just ignoring it and hoping it ill go away? I don't think it is anxiety related because I'm not anxious BH people would describe me as the opposite and I'm very patient and calm BH in general and so is this ds so.... TIA

Ha, I find you can try it all, bad taste polish, soap under nail, bandaid... it's a choice

What is this? I wouldn't treat something that has no real pathology.

My father is a nail biter.
I'm a nail biter.
I have one child who is a nail biter.

Never happens when anxious by either one of us. It's a subconscious habit seemingly hereditary...

Not sure how likely this is to work for you, but when my six year old started nail biting I told her I would give her a prize if her nails were long enough to cut on Friday. She was motivated enough that it actually worked, although I never commented. After a couple of months she had broken the habit and we phased out the rewards.

It's a supplement, not a pharmaceutical.

My mother used the nail polish that tastes awful on me when I was probably around 10. It was awful but worked in a matter of days and haven't bit my nails since then.
