If I were to open a (legal!) 2 yr old playgroup in Lakewood, what toys would I need to buy? I would be starting with not so much. What are the best toys to have? What are absolute musts and what are those that are not musts but super nice to have? Include things like kitchen sets. (And imagine I have a limitless budget.) Besides toys, any specific other materials or furniture that's useful?

Thanks!

It's also nice to have some indoor climbing stuff. Like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lit.....D_BwE

Kids this age like little hideaways like this. I would put a big mat underneath.

I don't agree with poster above about cheap strollers. They dont last, and need to be replaced frequently. Get a good quality stroller. After replacing a few times, I got an expensive wooden one. Was worth it!

Multiples of popular toys so they don't have to fight over them with the more aggressive ones always getting it.

For a playgroup anywhere age 2
Puzzles. Peg puzzles and 12 peice
Dolls
A study carriage and or shopping cart like little tykes
Kitchen and dishes
Interactive electric toys with extra batteries
Cd player with morah music
Little people little people sets
Car garage and cars trucks
Train set
Toolset and construction hat vest for boys
Mommy pocketbooks dolls, and bottles, toy phones
2-3 building toys I would do duplo, mega blocks and clics. Clics are cheaper than magnatiles. And they will be more creative at this age. They could make crowns and belts.
Dont forget sensory toys like
play dough and shapes
Water or sand table
Beanbags
Coloring supplies

My daughter's 3 year old playgroup had bins of old high heeled shoes, old purses, and old telephones. The kids spent hours in pretend play and it was all cheap play activities. They also had plenty of real toys.

Clics are hard for 2 year olds. Manga tiles are seriously the best toy and you can never have enough. Build the collection slowly.

Now I’m remembering my (now married) dd preschool teacher asking us to send in such stuff for pretend play- what fond memories youre bringing back for me

No dress-up clothes. Leave that for home. Not sanitary unless you wash it after each wear by one child.

Not everything has to be super sanitary. Unless you have kids that are immunodeficient or otherwise unwell it can be healthy to expose them to a certain amount of germs. It's perfectly okay to do a load of laundry at the end of each day or even once a week.

check ebay and craigslist in your area. When you are buying so many new items, you may be able to find good second hand things. Daycares close all the time and list their things. Just clean everything you buy used really well before using it.

for example this https://newyork.craigslist.org......html
