Five little peppers and how they grew.

And there’s more in the series too.

I just thought of something that I don’t think anyone’s ever mentioned on any of these threads.

Cheaper by the Dozen and it’s sequel Belles on their Toes.

I absolutely loved those two growing up.

Would any Pippi Longstocking books work? I remember loving the character, but I can't remember any book titles.
For Jewish books, check out MC Millman: She has close to 100 books for this age. LIbi Astaire also has mystery series.

If she likes biographies my DS loved the "Who is" series at that age. There are hundreds of them (I would read through reviews on Amazon first as there were definitely some I didn't let him read)

I was thinking of those but thought they might be too old for her... there is some boy/girl stuff, smoking, etc...

Eleanor Estes might be a hit. The Hundred Dresses as a stand-alone, and the 4 books of the Moffats series.
The Moffats then are a tie-in to Ginger Pye (and I think Pinky Pye-but I don't own that one so don't really remember it).

I think Cheaper by the Dozen and its sequel are great books, but will be appreciated much more later.

Also, what about Caddie Woodlawn and its sequel, along with other out-of-print Carol Ryrie Brink books?

It’s time to go to your local
Liberians are very good at suggesting books
You need to specify “clean” books.
No romantic anything

My 4th grade daughter's teacher is reading to the class 'Because of Anya' a story about a young girl with alopecia, they're loving it and I think it has a good moral.

Catherine Woolley (esp the Ginnie and Geneva books)
Carolyn Haywood
Ruth Chew
Betty Brock

Two books I loved that I read recently. Both by same author.

Fish in a tree
One for the Murphys

I think they are probably not appreciated by kids as much as adults, but they are really beautiful stories. My son really liked them.

Thank you again! Came back here armed with an actual pen and paper to make this happen. I'm thinking this list might be long enough by now to last until, dare I hope summer?

Also I love the "hold" feature at my library. I'll go online, order 10 books to be placed on hold and then run in one day without the kids to check them out. Saves a ton of time, and you have a much larger selection because you can ask for any book from the whole library system, not just your local branch.
And without the kids I don't have to worry about then picking something out that I don't approve of
