I'm planning my menu now for pesach. Just wondering because I'm totally unclear on this- is quinoa kosher for pesach? I am ashkenaz, so I dont eat kitniyos. Is quinoa considered kitniyos, or totally not?

We asked a Shaila and were told OK to use as long As don’t have minhag to only eat what your forefathers ate.

Some chassidim hold that quinoa is not allowed, so check with your guests if you're not sure.

Star-k has classified it as KLP and non kitniyos for many years. OU recently classified it the same.

OP, you can't rely on the psak of anonymous women. You must ask your Rav. We hold that quinoa is kitnyos.

You really chometz has an actual definition, right? Do you mean that you hold it's kitniyos?

It's not a clear cut yes or no. You'll have to ask whoever you usually ask this sort of thing. If you're preparing meals for guests, it's probably a good idea if you ask them too.
(I know this isn't what you were asking but kosher.com has some good Pesach sides that don't involve potatoes, which you might get sick of, or kitniyos, which you don't eat.)

Rabbi Blumencrantz was niftar before quinoa became popular so he is unlikely to gave said anything about it.

You too can find this googled article on the matter.

https://ohr.edu/holidays/pesac...../5390

Rav Avrohom Blumenkrantz zt”l, in his annual Kovetz Hilchos Pesach (2006, ppg. 141 - 143), took a middle-of-the-road approach, acknowledging both sides to this quinoa quarrel. He did not give carte blanche for everyone to use it for Pesach, but concluded that anyone who suffers from gluten or any Pesach-related allergies or conditions (ex. celiac) may comfortably use quinoa on Pesach without hesitation

And yet I read about it in his passover guide.

His son publishes the guide each year since he's been niftar. I don't know why that amother assumed you were referring to the father ztl.
