Which location should I aim to stay in for Shabbos in Atlanta to be walking distance to a (the main?) shul? Name of shul to look for? Do you know of any hotels that are up to 20 minutes walking distance and that are Shabbos-compatible? Any other info for a vacation-er for Shabbos who knows nobody in Atlanta?

The main frum area is called Toco Hills. There's another small community several miles away called Dunwoody. We stayed with friends and had a lovely Shabbos. For Shabbos lodging, see here on the visitor's web page at the main shul (Beth Jacob) for options: https://www.bethjacobatlanta.o.....html.

You may also want to check the Dan's Deals thread about visiting Atlanta (https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=8015.0) for more info.

Hey, yesterday, this thread had another response by an amother and now it's gone! doctorima's link doesn't work; it says I need to log in. I used that amother's link numerous times last night but couldn't make any calls. Now that it's morning, I want to call and the link is gone!

No, for some reason doctorima's link takes me to a log in page, while your link takes me to a page with visitor info.

Oops, sorry for the confusion. As Turquoise correctly pointed out, we both posted the same link, but since I put a period at the end of the sentence, it messed up the link. As you can see there, the closest shuls are about 2 miles away, walkable but a bit far (especially if you're going when it's hot). Otherwise, you can try the local apartment # they provide to see about availability, or contact the shul about arranging home hospitality. The people there are extremely warm and welcoming.

I'm not familiar with the other link you posted, but it says that they're Chabad-affiliated, and it's likely a kiruv-oriented shul. Here's the link to the other shul in Dunwoody: https://www.congariel.org/.

Another option is to check VRBO and/or AirBNB for rentals near the shuls for the weekend you're planning to be there. I often find that in residential areas without hotels, you can find well-located rentals near the shuls on these sites. Good luck!

Toco Hills is the main area near the biggest shul (and the smaller ones as well). All you need is to contact the shul--Beth Jacob of Atlanta and ask about hospitality. They can match you with a family that has a nice guest room for you, some may even have two if you need. Also ask about being matched with families for meals. The houses in Toco Hills are super close to walk to shul.
