Yes, as an alternative he can get the money from a friend who has an account linked with zelle. It's an instant transfer.

Western Union is old fashioned but simple and gets money there instantaneously - There is also Moneygram but there tend to be fewer places versus Western Union which is everywhere.
There also tend to be less expensive than wire transfers unless there is a special banking arrangement with discounted rates.
PayPal works and is cheap if you are sending to family or friends. It's also instantaneous if he has an account.

Or zelle, or atm machine,etc.
