My son who is seven had psoriasis. It started as a diaper rash at about a year of age. It ended up spreading to his whole body. I think that the cortisone creams drive the rash further into the body. I tried other creams, vinegar, baking soda , sea salt baths, didn't do much. When he was four, I put him on a heavy vitamin regimen which I think helped, but two other things really made a big difference. 1. Natures cure, MIRACLE CLAY - we made a cream from it, and also took it internally 2. Chiropractic adjustments. Now, for at least two years, he only has teo or rhree small patches of dry skin on his legs. occasionally, he will have a mild flare up , usually occuring when he eats too much bread or sugar.

I would do the methotrexate. It is a milder drug than the biologics, which my child is on for JRA. However, your child should definitely be seen by a pediatric rheumatologist. They may want to do biologics because of the joint involvement, and psoriatic arthritis can be very aggressive.

My husband has very bad psoriasis, he read a lot about different treatments. One thing he tried which really helps is to eat a cup of blueberries everyday. He eats the frozen ones. You won't see results right away but if your consistent with it by two months you will see a big difference
