We stopped on the way in a big mall with lots of activities in Syracuse. there’s also a Chabbad nearby for minyan if that’s ur thing. -

Watkins Glen and the nearby Corning Museum are both excellent stops along the way, depending on your routing. Also check out Taughannock State Park, and Rochester has an excellent children's museum.

BH. If you are into a short trip, the Gulliver Gate is for older kids and very interesting specially the panama canal which has real water systems. Tomorrow we will go to paterson great falls instead of niagara. Its too much to come and go to niagara on a tight budget.
The paterson falls are not wide but they say they are very deep (tall). Perfect timing chol hamoed because according to reviews other times fells a little unsafe.
