Yes it is - not for an issue of it being "clean". Poster asked for clean movie recommendations

OP, I suggest you check common sense media for these titles - many people have different ideas of what "clean" means.

Just to add - it's not actually rated R in Canada. It's rated 14A which is quite a different rating.

Is that like PG-13 in the US?

Yes, we have G, PG, 14A, 18A and R.

Quebec has their own rating system.

I don’t know how you or the IP define “clean” but although Argo is a great movie, has a scene with half-naked women in it as well as a number of uses of the F-word. If she wants a movie that she can show her children, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. BTW, if Argo is acceptable, two great movies of similar genre are:

Zero Dark Thirty
Blackhawk Down
Saving Private Ryan
Hacksaw Ridge

Inherit the Wind

One kiss, and a Christian prayer meeting, but no crosses. Threats of violence, and an old woman slaps a young one on the face.

Zero Dark Thirty has some extreme scenes of torture.

Saving Private Ryan has very graphic violence. I've never watched The Longest Day, but I imagine it would be a less intense version. (It's also about D-Day, but it was made in the 1950s, I think. So I would imagine cleaner language, as well.) I'd forgotten about The Great Escape. That's an oldie but goodie, especially if it is for your kids.

I've never seen Argo, but that's probably because I can't stand Ben Affleck, lol.

Correct about Zero Dark Thirty and Saving Private Ryan. I did preface my recommendation with “if Argo is acceptable”. On that level I personally have somewhat of a tolerance for the violence, as opposed to the language and s-x, although I’m sure some are just as adverse to the violence.

Regarding Ben Affleck, my observation regarding him is that he is incapable of displaying emotion and is generally a terrible actor, with the exception of any role that does not require emotion, such as Argo, in which he was an emotionless ExFil agent, and The Accountant, in which he played a high functioning autistic. LOL
