K 9 was bought & discontinued. I have used them for years as a way to 1) track usage, 2) block everything including hours not to be used except for a list of whitelisted sites during certain times of day. Everything else had to be done through our passworded main area in the house computer.
Any ideas for software or other helpful ideas to replace our family's tech checks & balances? What do you do in your home especially with teen boys? I am interested in continuing to (preferably by myself making the choices) track, block, whitelist & lock. Software as well as philosophy welcome.

I recently got Qustodio and have been thrilled. I have different users set up on my computer for different kids, and I set up for each of them what categories they're allowed to access (or block all categories and just whitelist specific sites). I also set up times of access for each. When each child goes online from their user it automatically uses the settings for that user (I believe up to 5 users are included in the base price). When they need to access more (say, for school research) they go online from my user (which also has certain categories blocked, but allows much more than theirs). I get daily reports for each user. Qustodio can also be used for other devices if that is relevant to you.

I like TimeBoss which is customisable for each computer user, allows you to either whitelist or blacklist, and enables setting time limits for different categories of computer use as well as overall screen time.
