Hi
I am really looking to start a business from home, that doesnt need to much investment.
I am looking to supplement my dh income, but I don't mind starting small.
What can I sell from home that can make some profit???
Some ideas so far..

1) selling skirts- (there are already lots of them in my area)
2) selling babywear
3) selling customised yarmulke's

Im really desperate to get going so pls advise with any ideas!

Good luck!

Babysitting, selling cosmetics, someone in my neighborhood sells sewing basics, that really comes in handy.

Some from home stores in my area:

1. Specialty baking items - wholesale prices on chocolate chips, cool sprinkles, creams etc.
2. Socks and tights
3. costume jewelry
4. Maternity clothing
5. shabbos robes
6. shells
7. snoods and berets
8. baby and kids leggings
9. disposable dishes and silverware

I know someone that sells specialty/novelty toys that the regular stores don't have. She also sells helium balloons.

I don't understand this, unless you live way out of town in the woods or something. Don't they have any stores where you live? I find that stores can buy in bulk and sell for a lot less than the average SAHM can. It's all about volume.

Aside from that, you're competing with shops on the internet that will deliver to your door, cutting out the middle man.

How does anyone make any money doing this?

If you're willing to start small with minimal investment, you might want to look into things like Pampered Chef or similar companies that facilitate your business. You need it to be something you're into - like if you're not into cooking/baking/kitchen gadgets then Pampered Chef is not for you, but there are also health products, cosmetics, jewelry, lots of different companies that offer similar structures. The advantage is that while you do the selling and get a commission, the orders are usually shipped straight from the parent company so you don't need to invest in a stock, maintain the stock, take chances that the things you stock will be the things people buy...

Whatever company you decide to start with, like Amway, Shaklee, MaryKay, whatever, make sure you google the name of the company with the words "pyramid sceme", and see what others have to say about it.

With many of these companies, you only make a few pennies on things you sell yourself. The big money depends on how many people you can sign up to sell "under you". You're not actually selling a product, you're selling the concept of the company. It gets weird, and there's a lot of pressure to recruit others.

*former Amway rep, speaking*

Yes, definitely your mileage varies.
For example, the company I am with now (which I mainly subscribe to for my own discounts, I don't really do the business angle right now because my day job keeps me busy enough at the moment BH) provides excellent commissions just on regular sales. But the people making real salaries are the ones who signed up more other distributors under them. People without much downline do supplement their income, though - not a salary but a few hundred a month that feels nice.

There's much more to running a successful business than finding a product.

I would advise you to read books about entrepreneurship, commerce, and business in general.

Hatzlachah!

If you are into health and guiding people to be healthy, you can become a health coach through Optavia.

If you live in a chassidish area, stores work. Many ladies don't have internet. They like to go to the store and "air out". They also will support a local Jewish busines even it is a bit more money.
