And what line of halacha do you follow? I have this raw tongue. I don't know if my family uses and how severe of a problem is

What could be the issue with tongue? It's meat like any other.

Where I live, all the stores have it.

Though one year on pesach chol hamoed, I walked into a butcher store that I never frequented before, and asked for a pickled tongue. They yelled me out of the store because apparently pickling is chometz! LOL

We had delicious pickled tongue when we were hosted for a meal the first days. And I have one prepared for our family for the 2nd days as well.

I wonder what the question is garlic the store pickles with (chasidish minhag from some areas where garlic was watered with chometz water in olden times) or because the tongue ate chometz

If you post what community you're part of people and respond if they know if there is some sort of minhag prohibition against it or not.

I don't know what spices go into pickling meat but I had the same problem trying to get a corned beef brisket to make for Pesach a few years back. The butcher looked at me like I was a martian to make such a request. (Yet this year I see it in a few stores).

Pickling spices often contain mustard seeds. Not chametz. But it is kitniot.

I only use fresh tongue all year round. I don't like it pickled. I had it first days. Yum!

I just finished eating tongue and rib steak. Tongue was fresh because I prefer it that way. Just boiled. No seasoning. Because I like it that way. Got from my kosher wholesaler a week before pesach
