My 5 year old was found to have high blood pressure and we are now waiting to see a specialist. We were just told 'It needs to be checked' but not what it might be. Anyone had such a thing? the reading today was 124/108

Is this reading at home or in a drs office?

this reading was at home, can't remember what the reading was at the doc. All other appointments doctors would always saythat it must be that he is afraid so I never thought much about it but now we met a new one and took a reading twice and said its pretty high.

My nephew had that and it was an aortic coarctation (heart problem). His only symptom was high blood pressure, and I think maybe diff readings on right versus left, and on arms versus legs.
I’m sure high blood pressure could be caused by loads of things.

DD had it and was also sent to a specialist which right away said that she might be scared. He gave her time to warm up and then took a reading again and it was perfect! So we were off and that was the end of it bh Smile

Wow B"H, so happy to hear; must have been a relief.
Doctor tested repeatedly - 2 weeks apart, 3 separate times..
What type of specialist was it?
Next available appointment is at the end of feb IYH
