Hi. Wasn't sure what topic to post this under. I am looking to rent, not buy a treadmill. I live in lakewood. Anyone know if such an option exists? Thanks.

Why do u want to rent one? I purchased a treadmill about 15 years ago. It was used heavily for a while and then sat there for years. Once my kids became old enough to use it, it's used more than once daily.

I found that it was a great purchase.

I don't now how much it costs to rent a treadmil, but IMO, if you plan on using long-term, it may be worth it to buy one second-hand...

buy one second hand and resell when you don't want it anymore.

I'd like to rent, since if I'm paying each month perhaps it will give me an incentive to actually use it!!

Also, how do you know the condition of a second hand treadmill and that I'm not being ripped off?

Many treadmills will tell you how many miles they've been used for, which gives you a sense of how beaten up it may be. You should also use it yourself for a while to make sure you're comfortable with it and happy with how it operates.

Thanks doctorima

But practically, how do you use a second hand treadmill and make sure you're comfortable with it, before actually buying it?

By running on it for 20-30 minutes. If there's a problem with it, it's not the type of thing that can be temporarily covered up. Change speeds, change incline, start, stop, on, off, try all the buttons and make sure everything works properly. And as I said, check how many miles wear and tear are on the motor. If it all works and checks out (and the price is right), I'd go for it. Also, some treadmills come with long warranties, so maybe some parts of it are still covered, thought it's unlikely.
