I wasn't sure where to post this...

I use olive oil in everything - cooking, baking, you name it!

We have guest who is allergic...so which oil is a good substitute, flavor AND texture-wise?

TIA

Safflower oil is mellow like the light olive oils and can be used for anything.

Maybe grapeseed or safflower?

This is a much better tasting oil in baking than olive oil. Try substituting some.

I use avocado oil in cooking and refined (tasteless) coconut oil in baking.

I use canola over olive in baking, but I think the other oils might add the flavor layer OP wants.

I totally agree. This is the first I heard of olive oil in general baking. I thought not using olive oil in baking was universal except for a few specialty items.

When Zaq mentioned canola oil, I thought it would be a good second oil for OP because she could use it for baking also. I think she might like the taste better and not be overwhelmed by too many choices.

I am particular about my oils. I use peanut oil for one purpose, avacodo oil for another, and grapeseed for a third, and sesame oil for a fourth, safflower oil, stir fry oil, walnut oil, coconut oil. And we haven't gotten to the shortenings. There's probably more in my cabinets.

I think sometimes the coconut flavor comes through. It's great if you like coconut.

Not if you use refined. No taste.

I use avocado oil a lot. It has zero flavor and is very healthy. Canola and safflower are highly processed so I don't recommend that.

It's too processed for me.
