Our family is planning a pilot trip to the NY area, relocating from the West Coast. We are looking for a friendly, inclusive community with a diverse population and, ideally, room to roam/ good access to nature. We've been told Pomona would be a good option. Any other suggestion?

Also, any suggestion for a frum realtor in the Pomona area who could show us around?
Thanks!

What type of Jewish community are you looking for? What kind of schools? Do you need to be within a certain driving radius of a particular place for work?

We are quite flexible- coming from an OOT community that has just one shul and a diverse population (middle of the road baaleibatim, modern, sefardim, yeshivish, chabad, etc.) looking for a place where there is at least some measure of diversity. I would say we are very middle of the road-- shomrei mitzvos. I know it's not a category:) But that's where we're holding. We homeschool and it's worked well for us; would like some options for a boys' high school in the next few years (not co-ed, but probably not super right wing either). For work need reasonable driving distance to Manhattan but would not be a daily commute. Thanks!

Do you have a budget in mind?

Elizabeth/Hillside NJ is very economical with middle of the road non-coed high schools in town.
Some people have lovely big backyards.
You can get more land and house here for a lot less than money.

Like most places in NJ with an easy commute to NY(right on the train line for 30 mins) where there is a nice sized Orthodox community with Orthodox amenities (Jewish grocery, food establishments, schools, multiple shul options) it is the city/suburbs. However, we are within a 10 minute drive of nice green spaces-in this case Nomahegan and Lenape Park.

Come check out Elkins Park, PA. It sounds just like the type of place you come from. Small, one shul VERY diverse community. Lots of nature. Creek running through the town and hiking around. loving community with warm friendly people. Selection of about 3-4 boys highschool
