I found a tick on my child about two weeks ago.
She then developed a stomach virus for around 12 hours.
The doctor claims that it is unrelated since the fever was related to the stomach virus and they look out for fatigue, joint pain and fever.
Anyone knowledgeable / experienced with tick bites / Lyme disease? Should I go for a second opinion? I don't want to be negligent.

My child only began having issues a year after his tick bite. I would be surprised if the symptoms would occur so quickly . Usually the bulls eye rash is the only symptom that shows up early and the problem is that it doesn't always show up.

I do have the tick. She said they used to test the ticks but they don't anymore.
Is there anyway I can have it tested elsewhere?

That's correct they no longer test it because I think that lab closed down or something .

I spoke to my pediatrician about this. He said that even after 6 weeks the medication will work effectively to get rid of the Lyme before it can have long lasting effects. So as long as the kid is fine now, wait 6 weeks, and test for Lyme. You can treat it then if it’s positive. He claims that in all cases where Lyme showed itself a while later, there is no guarantee that there wasn’t a more recent tic bite the the patient was unaware of that caused the Lyme...
