New to me, too.

While I understand the message they are trying to get across, it makes me slightly uneasy.

I don't like a bunch of young, single guys telling us what to wear, because that's what they like to see. I don't like being called "Baby". I don't like that they say that integrity is completely dependent on what you are wearing - there's an undertone of shaming and blaming that really rubs me the wrong way.

I've often wondered - if men didn't exist, or had a different taivah, would modesty still be a woman's burden? (I say burden, because it's 109 degrees F today. There are guys running around in shorts and short sleeves, while I'm hiding in the house. I see male children dressed for the weather and playing outside, but no girls.)

Interesting.
I think modesty would be a general thing then, probably not a "women's only" mitzvah. and btw, modesty really is for everyone: men and women. obviously, women who are the more sensual of the two, have to be more covered up etc. but when torah talks about tznius , its talking about women AND men. self respect and all that.
why are you hiding in your house? get yourself a one-piece thin dress, wear a snood etc...(my place is not 109 F today ,so I cant say...)..I'm sure we underestimate how hot people in shorts and tanks are. they feel a bit breezier, but they're still sweating buckets.

The bolded below irks me.

Dressing modest, we know it is rough
When the world is making it so tough
Don’t need short skirts or low cut shirts
Being the way that you are is enough ou ough

Everyone else doesn’t seem to care
Everyone but you

Baby you light up the world like nobody else
By the way that you speak and respect yourself
Girls with integrity are hard to find these days
You gotta know Oh Oh
You are so beautiful
If only you saw what I can see
You’d understand why I need your modesty

Right now I’m talking to you and you must believe
You gotta know Oh Oh
Virtue is so beautiful oh oh oh
That’s what makes you beautiful

Yo, big men…only think of the girls that are virtuous baby
.So c-come on
Must have it wrong
.To prove we are right we put it in a song.
We don’t know why (you, you ,you)
You’d want a guy
That only cares what he sees with his eyes (here here)

Everyone else doesn’t seem to care
Everyone else but you

Baby you light up the world like nobody else
By the way that you speak and respect yourself
Girls with integrity are hard to find this days
You gotta know Oh Oh
You are so beautiful
If only you saw what I can see
You’d understand why I need your modesty
Right now I’m talking to you and you must believe
You gotta know oh oh

Virtue is so beautiful oh oh oh
That’s what makes you beautiful

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na na na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na

(Softly)
Baby you light up the world like nobody else
By the way that you speak and respect yourself
Girls with integrity are hard to find these days
You gotta know Oh Oh
You are so beautiful

(Louder)

Made me uncomfortable seeing guys shimmying to a modesty tune. And singing about women's appearances.

They just mean to say, that they see what many girls (women ?) don't see. most girls try to get attention thinking its the only way to a guys heart, they're saying that its not.
I dont think has any s*xual connotations.

Hot chocolate, you sweet summer child.
Do some research on the Mormon views on women and s*xuality.

Its definitely not frum music , and can be disturbing to some ( can I delete original post? how?)
I really connected to its message as a teen ( when I first watched it) and even now.
but youre right, its not sensitive, and not jewish at all. still, I found it is inspiring that young, non-jewish teenagers sing a song that's just so beautiful and truthful.
I don't think just anyone would gain from watching this though. maybe specific people (w specific nisyanos) , so thanks for making me aware - ill try to remove it.
I hope I did not cause people to watch something below their standards, I really sincerely hope so.

I'm not mad at you for posting it!!! How were you to know what it was???
I'm angry at Aish for posting Christian content on their site without clearly marking it as such. It's not the music that is objectionable, but the content of Mormon views on modesty and women. While the idea of a cute song about modesty is a good one, I know too much about Mormons to regard the message of this song as innocent.

There should be a little x in the upper right hand corner.
If not, report yourself and Yael will delete it for you.

Jewish girls and women should have virtue because that the way of Hashem, not because that is what boys are looking for (and realistically - boys are also looking for outer beauty. see thread on how much time is spent on externals for dates.)

It's fine. Not that bad. I spent the first half of it thinking that it was an elaborate parody. Then I realized that they're Mormon so ... ok, that's why they're so gorgeous! But I find it weird for guys to be singing to girls to be modest. Whatevs. It's more weird than bad.

You are so right, and I humbly declare I was mistaken, and will be removing the link. its still a beautiful song though , with a nice message, but for us jewish women, its not the "ultimate" perhaps a beautiful jewish song on tznius can fix this! anyone ?
