Im looking for one, Persian design (can be made elsewhere like Pakistan or China, but with traditional Persian look), decent quality (tight), 9 X 12 size, multi-color, with lots of pastel colors, with little or no red.

Thanks.

I know people who have bought used handmade rugs from an auction house in LA, where there's a big persian community.

Check you local estate auction houses. You can get things for pennies on the dollar, depending on the interest of the bidders.

Go to the preview, and mark on the program which lot numbers you are interested in. If your lot comes up late in the evening, after almost everyone else has left, you are in luck. An auction can go on until 2 am if the need to move a lot of inventory, and at 2am you may be the only one of a few bidders.

When I was doing interior design and historical renovation, I would buy furniture for a song, and then mark it up before I passed it on to my clients. Those extra hour at night really pay off.

Another tip. If you go to the same auction house and become known as a serious bidder, you will be allowed to have private previews, and they will tell you what NOT to bid on, because the opening bid is overpriced. If it's an item that they have often, like mink coats, it is often worth it to pass on it, and wait for a different day.

Before you start bidding, make a note in your program about how high you are willing to bid, and stick with it!

Live auctions are an enormous amount of fun. Just don't get carried away, because they can be addicting. Very Happy
