I was told I can use it but I found the product useless. Very hard to apply lehalachah and get the result you want. You can maybe give your cheeks a little color if that’s very important.

I'm also American balabatish, and not MO. I wish I could tell you the name of my Rav here, but he says it's muttar, as long as there is no other color underneath, and that you don't blend colors.

My rav holds the same. But I asked him probably 20 years ago and have been using since then so I guess it's possible things have changed since then. Never thought to reask Surprised

I’m a Mikvah Lady in a modern but extremely traditional Sephardic community.
Too many ladies want to push off Mikvah because of not being able to have makeup on.
So our Rav allowed it. We even have Shabbat make-up at the Mikvah, with disposable brushes of course.
I once had a newly wed girl on vacation that was mortified at the fact that her in laws would possibly know she went to Mikvah. I told her not to worry that we had Shabbat make-up if herRav allowed it.
She was so thankful that in her personal prayers in the Mikvah she asked Hashem for my family and I.

Right. I imagine if I were to apply on a completely bare face I would still look very pale; almost as if I was barely wearing makeup. This would help if I would be able let’s say, to add a little black to my fading eyeliner in the second day of yomtov. But Halacha is Halacha and I wouldn’t do something not allowed. IMO, I would look better with my fading away, smudged long lasting makeup than with a completely bare face and a little powder color from shabbos makeup .

I personally wear Shabbos makeup because I have minor vitiligo and am not comfortable without makeup. I'm thankful there are Rabanim who allow it.

does any loose powder makeup work as a shabbos makeup or it has to be specifically the ones sold as such?
The jewish makeup store near me sold an eye shadow for 25$ and the dollar store had a super loose powder eye shadow in a little jar (I tipped some out and it is very very loose powder) looked exactly the same for one dollar. Can it be used?

It has to have/lack certain ingredients. Shabbos makeup is water-based. The dollar store loose pigment is most probably oil based.
