Baby is almost 1 and has had fever for 24 hours.
Mostly between 101 and 104.
Lethargic , not drinking or nursing as much as usual, been sponging him down with lukewarm water. When fever dips to 101, hes much happier and crawling around as usual. Not eating much.
What would you do?
Does this warrant a trip to the ER? Sad

Make sure he doesn’t get dehydrated. Is he having wet diapers? Are you alternating Tylenol and Motrin?

Sick babies are so pitiful.

Give Motrin. If that has no affect then go to the ER. Tylenol only after Motrin because often Tylenol isn't enough to affect the fever like Motrin can. Just had this with my 12 month old and that's what the doctor said. Once the Motrin kicked in then he drank properly and dehydration wasn't a concern. It's fine if he doesn't eat he just needs to drink

wet diapers, yes BH. not soaked, but wet

I am alternating them. How long after tylenol can he have motrin? He spat out most of the tylenol I gave him an hour ago Sad

You need to wait 6-8 hours Since his last montrin dose.

I would not go to the er if he has wet diapers and fever keeps dropping

You can alternate every 3 hours with tylenol and Motrin. Have you called your pediatrician?

You can also mix equal parts vinegar and water and wipe your baby down with it.

Refuah shelayma!

My pediatrician told me it's NOT the temp (unless above 103, but then call the dr- maybe they'll want to see him) but the behavior that you need to watch.

I had a baby 103 acting normal -nothing to worry about.

101 very lethargic - turned out my baby had double pneumonia!! Baby was barely coughing. Dr said the lethargy is more worrying than the temperature.

I would take the baby to be seen before shabbos if this continues until tomorrow morning.
