Have any of you performed in any of the frum, large productions?
I have this deep, burning desire to sing, dance and act on stage!
I have a great, powerful voice and good acting and dancing skills that don't see the light of day! Sad

I'm not in the US, so Rachel's Place is not an option, but I would still hesitate before committing to so much time away from my husband and kids.
DH knows how much I want it, and even told me I could, which is major since we're mainstream Chassidish, and he would have to manage the house when I'm out.
But I can't bring myself to audition ( and obviously no guarantee that I'll be accepted)
Can you share your personal experience?

I'm BT, and, as my s/n indicates, a singer.

I loved being in musicals! My favorites were the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.

If you ever do have an opportunity to audition for something, go for it! What's the worst that could happen?

Alternatively, think about what a great example you're setting by bravely pursuing your dreams. It's not a bad thing for kids to see their parents involved and passionate about hobbies outside of the home.

Where are you located? If you're in Israel, Zir Chemed/Regal productions has similar performances each year.

I am in Israel, and have considered Zir Chemed every now and then.
I have the commitment issue, and I'm scared of being told that I'm a terrible actress/ singer. I can keep on dreaming as long as I wasn't told otherwise Wink

I would love to be in a musical but there aren’t any where I love. I also don’t know if I can possibly squeeze in the time for practice between work and mothering. One day I’ll be the embarrassing bubby performing Wink

I have had a lead role in one of the Rachels Place productions a few yrs ago.
It took over my life.
Think nightly practices from October through January.
I wasnt a Mom, I had no other life.
I likely wouldnt do it again.
I also act in Frum Movies, which is alot less time consuming, but a different experience altogether.
There is a facebook group called Atara I think. with many members, you may be able to network there.
