My daughter switched schools at the beginning of this school year. She is the one who wanted to switch (and we agreed), but it wasn’t for social reasons. She had friends in her old school. She loves her new school and enjoys going everyday. However she has been having a hard time making new friends. The teacher gave me a few names of girls who may be good friends for her, and I tried to encourage her to invite them (or others) over, but she’s not interested. She has other best friends from her old school and the neighborhood. So she is not lonely, and is always with friends. I’d really like her to have friends at school though, and I think she would like to as well, but I don’t know if she’s putting in the effort. A few girls invited her over to their houses at the beginning of the year, but she doesn’t seem to be interested in pursuing the friendships. I work in a field that involves helping children with social and emotional issues, yet I’m getting stuck with my own daughter. Would love to hear any advice.
