My opinion from what I’ve seen from my children. Things that are mandatory are much harder though. One of my children never read when younger. Now that she’s older, she’s become a bookworm. Another child wanted me to put his socks on because it was difficult for him and he didn’t want to bother. Since I had the time I did while showing him how to do it. All of a sudden, he does it on his own.

Some things are because they grow up and mature and some things are because IMO they weren’t forced and realized on their own.

How have you seen this type of behavior in your children, specific incidents? Not obvious ones like walking or eating on their own.
