What gift would be nice to give for the boy or family for the Ceremony? They go to Chabbads events but don’t keep anything. Any ideas?

Was thinking a becher but isn’t it disrespectful if I know he won’t use it? Or maybe he will

I don't think so. You, as the religious friend, are giving him a taste of his religion. He may choose not to use it, he may display it in a china closet, but I don't think it's disrespectful.

If he enjoys reading, there are some wonderful books out there - NOT kirruv type or halacha, more novels or similar that give insight into meaning of Yomim Tovim (Let My People...)

I agree something Judaic, I personally think giving anything else is kind of inappropriate. The fact that he likely won't use is sad, but there's always hope...? A menorah is probably most likely to get used (good idea!), otherwise, even a Hebrew/English siddur or Chumash might get picked up one day, but you also would need to worry that it might not be treated appropriately. A fancy havdalah candle? - again, probably won't use, but at least doesn't have kedushah. (Or the other ideas - shofar, kiddush cup, etc.) Framed poster/Plaque with his Hebrew name and the meaning? (Some give as gifts after a bris...?)
